Fleetweek 2011 San Francisco, California The USS Carl Vinson is a United States Navy Nimitz-class supercarrier. Commissioned in 1982, it is still in active service today. The helicopter escort is a Sikorsky MH-60S Seahawk assigned to the USS Carl Vinson. I captured this unusual angle while standing near the middle section of the Golden Gate Bridge as the carrier and helicopter passed underneath. This was a truly majestic sight to witness.
