Milky Way Over Mount Baker Wilderness @ 10:56 PM
from Artist Point in the Mount Baker Wilderness, elevation 5100 feet (1554 meters) above sea level.
Deming, Washington
July 18, 2015
On a new moon when the night is darkest and when the sky is clear of clouds, the Milky Way can been seen with the naked eye. My camera is pointed south, the orange glow you see beyond the mountain range emanates from the glowing city lights of Seattle, Washington.
This is a two image composite. In the first image I exposed for the sky for 37 seconds; the second image I exposed for the trees for 4 minutes and 50 seconds.
