Wat Chedi Luang Chiang Mai, Thailand Construction started in the 14th century. Due to political instability it was not completed until the mid-15th century and it was the tallest structure in the region. In 1468, the Emerald Buddha was located here. In 1545, parts of the temple collapsed in an earthquake and the Emerald Buddha was moved.
